Here are some great FREE ways to get traffic;
1. Have a signature link in forums to get more traffic, this is a very affective method - but you must use forums that relate to your niche. For example, if you have a Games site - your best bet is to visit Gaming forums.
2. Post links to your pages to social bookmarking sites.
3. Leaving comments on other people’s blogs with a link back to your site is pretty affective, 98% of bloggers will read all posted comments. (if you have taken the time to read thier blog and comment 99% of the time they will return the favour).
5. Have totaly different opinion to everyone else on a popular topic, make sure it is a fairly valid point, if you have a different opinion to the majority of other posts on a forum for example - other users are more likely to focus more on your signatures and click resulting to +1 traffic!
6. Answer questions on Yahoo, believe it or not but SO MANY people ask questions on Yahoo every minute of everyday, reply to your thier question with a link to your site. (try to answer questions that relate to your site (if you own a gambling site, questions such as "what is the best gambling site around?) If you answer random questions you may well get a click on your link but the chances of the user staying are very low so stick to your topic.
7. Post in Yahoo and Google Groups with a link to your site in your signature
8. Make a 404 page that redirects to your homepage, this is essential - a lot of visitors tend to leave the site or return to thier homepage if a 404 is displayed.
